Trapeze @ Pune Design Festival '12

Earlier this year, Sarita and Ram were invited to speak at the Pune Design Festival- Design without Boundaries, organised by the Association of Designers of India.

Sarita and Ram's talk focused on the theme of the event- Design Without Boundaries. As designers, we are often slotted and boxed into certain stereotypes with respect to the kind of work that we do, the way we approach it and so on. But isn't that far from the case? We are constantly breaking down walls, donning different hats, learning new things, holding hands and taking leaps of faith.

The format of the Pune Design Festival was almost intimate in a sense, with more interaction between speakers and participants (especially students) than one usually sees in design events - the organisers had quite effectively broken the fourth wall. Groups of talks and subsequent panel discussions were followed by tea breaks and break-away sessions of workshops that allowed for more discussion to be generated on the topics at hand.

Masterchef Trapeze

While India and Sri Lanka prepared for a face-off in the ICC World Cup finals, a different kind of competition was on at the studio. Bringing together our love for good food and drink and (for some) cricket, a lunch-table conversation ended with us splitting into teams to face each other in a cook-off.

The Challenge
Two cocktail snacks
(because actual, proper cooking only comes to a few)
One cocktail

And like all proper challenges, there was a theme (Cricket!) and judges.

Tropical Shrimp cocktail snack / Tomato Mozzarella Basil Bruschetta / Doosra between the Sheets, a take on the popular cocktail

Herbed Crisps Bits, drizzled lightly with olive oil / Golden cornflakes-Ham ICC-Ball /
Bruschetta with french bread & strawberry-basil dressing / Watermelon Vodka cocktail

Stumped: Kababs of green olives and sausages grilled with barbecue sauce / The Oval: Zucchini Pesto Bruschetta topped with green olives and melted cheese / Yorker: A Mojito with watermelon balls soaked in Sake

Bartender Extraordinaire

The judges, the food, the drinks and the most amazing chocolate-hazelnut-whiskey cake

A morning of cooking, an afternoon of eating and drinking and an evening with an exciting match that India won. Could a Saturday get any better?

Mad Max: Opening Night

Mad Max Exhibition: Behind the Scenes

While the studio got ready with all the artworks to be displayed, in another corner of the studio some people were busy packing...er...making a punch.

(and what a punch it was!)

Punch- check. Snacks-check. Last minute adjustments- check.
Good to go!
